Zermatt & Matterhorn The closest view of the Matterhorn (4,478m). Zermatt is a no-car village! Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes by train from Interlaken. Use the Swiss Travel Pass.

Gornergrat Observatory, 3,089m above sea level, is the best observatory where you can view the Matterhorn directly.
